Types of organizational structures

- Horizontal structure(functional design)
Chairman :- He
is more advisory in nature
Chairman is the head of the board ,policy decision can be taken by him
Managing Director :-
He manages the company and has a power of management ,
He manages
the entire board
Executive Director :- executive director reporting to managing director about various
Functions
Two types of directors
Functional director and Non – functional director
Non-functional
director ;- it also consists of independent directors ,they are must for
board ,they are outsiders and they do not
invest in any
shares and do not have personal intrest on company
the purpose of independent directors are he does not
take any decisions of a company
now a days hierarchy is very deep ( vertical)
most of the sturctures are vertical in nature about
70%
Task force :- it is only meant for short period and
time bond ,,,and it is a one time event performed by a group of people.
Organisational
structure is rigid in nature ,,GE company’s organisation structure is changed 6
times in 9 years
Matrix design ;-
A matrix
organisation is a structure in which there is more than one line of reporting
managers. Effectively, it means that the employees of the organisation have
more than one boss
Network design :- managers coordinate and control relationships that are both
internal and external to the firm.
