LEADER is someone who leads a small group ,an organisation or a country.
Everytime i see or hear the word LEADER, there is one incident i recall that involves my 50 year old father. it goes like this..
It was elections time(2014) in our village in coastal Andhra. My dad along with his small team of 7-8 people were supporting one particular political party and were organizing some activities on behalf of the party. And there is another large group who were supporting the other political party that is historically strong in the village. And this group were clearly not  at all happy with whatever my dad's team was doing and were trying all sorts of things to bring it down. After a while they came with sticks and daggers to threaten and the situation has become tense and dangerous and was threatening to get violent at any moment .At this time my dad gets a call from one of the worried members(obviously, 8 people against some 100) explaining to him about the whole situation and my dad's reply was , "if you sense something may happen to you people there, give me a ring and i'll be there in less than 2minutes with a dagger." Overhearing this conversation ,my mind was blown. I could imagine the amount of courage and confidence that gives to followers. Such a person ,to me, is a leader. That moment i thought this is how a leader thinks, this is how a leader HAS to think.
No matter the odds,no matter the adversity, a leader comes forward ,stands tall and fights for what he believes in, instills confidence and courage in his people, inspires them . This is what my father was willing to do. This is what Mahatma gandhi did for our independce, when he went against the mighty british .This is what MS Dhoni did in the 2011 world cup final when he went in ahead of the in-form yuvraj singh to bat and scored a championship winning 90*.

Leadership is full of power, glamour and elan. Its charm attracts many. The post of leadership, thus becomes highly contentious and competitive. Consequently ,a person who desires to be a leader has to compete in the race for leadership and prove himself better than his competitors. People accept a person as a leader ,if they feel he is the best choice to pursue their cause. Therefore a person who desires to be a leader needs to so display his competence and play his roles that he stands out better than his competitors in the eyes of his people. To do that he needs to have requisite competence and prove his worth by actions on ground.

LEADERSHIP IN THE ORGANISATION:
MISSION AND GOALS:
Mission of a leader is the purpose for which he works .Goals are the objectives to be accomplished to fulfill mission of leadership. Goals are derived from the mission.

APPROACH of leadership implies the modus operandi used for obtaining goals of leadership. It consists of a set of actions taken by the leader to obtain requisite goals .The quality of leadership approach is revealed by the means and methods employed and efforts made by the leader to attain his goals .

RESPONSIBILITIES:
A leader has numerous responsibilities. He has to plan and carryout development of his organisation and people. He has to provide an environment wherein everyonet feels happy to live and work. He has to make his organisation and people perform their roles optimally. His inability to discharge his responsibilities satisfactorily on any accounts gets questioned , and affects his reputation and credibility. Morally,he is responsible for everything that happens in his organisation. He is answerable for anything wrong done by him, his organisation and his people.

A LEADER has no choice but to exercise his leadership successfully or disappear from the scene .Thus, success in leadership is one of the most cherished aims of a leader. However ,success in leadership doesn't come easily ,one has to work hard for it!
