TYPES OF INDUSTRIES
1.Industry
Industry refers to the production of goods and
services by converting the inputs into outputs or creation of utilities to
customers.
Industry is a combination of firms which provide
similar goods and services.
- Industry has two types:
1.PRIMARY INDUSTRIES:
Primary industries refers to the creation of utilities
by extracting materials from natural resources or the growth and development of
vegetation and animals by means of reproduction process.
Primary industries are classified as extractive and
genetic industries.
- EXTRACTIVE INDUSTRIES:
These industries involved in the extraction of raw
materials from the natural resources like land, water, air etc.
Examples:
Fishery extraction of oil, gas and coal.
- GENETIC INDUSTRIES:
These industries are those which engaged in
reproducing and multiplying a certain species of plants and breeding of
animals.
Example:
Forestry, poultry etc.
2.SECONDARY INDUSTRIES:
These industries are involved in manufacturing and
assembly process. It involves converting raw material into components.
Example:
Making plastic from oil.
COMMERCE:
It is divided into two types
1.TRADE: the action of selling goods and services from
the place of production to other place.
2.AIDS TO TRADE: It states that products are not only goods but also
services offered to customers. aids to trade includes advertisements, transportation, agents etc.
Trade is divided into two types :
1.HOME TRADE: This is also known as domestic trade or internal trade which states that the goods and services transfer within the country.
This may be sub-divided into two ways as wholesale and retail.
2.FOREIGN TRADE: this is also known as international trade which states that exchange of capital, goods and services across the world.
- PORT : the place which is said to be a port where the facilities for loading and unloading or transfer of goods and services from one country to other countries. example : seaport, airport.
SECTORS OF INDUSTRY:
although there are hundreds of different jobs or occupations, they can all be classified into 3 categories:
1) PRIMARY SECTOR: It states that, working with or the extraction of natural resources. example: farming, mining, forestry etc.
2) SECONDARY SECTOR: It states that making things either by manufacturing or by the construction. example: Nissan car manufacturing.
3) TERITARY SECTOR: It states that, this type of industries provides services. these also includes commercial services like shops, personal services like beauty care, professional services like teachers,solicitors etc.

ReplyDeleteThe products are consumer's goods as well as producer's goods. Consumer goods are goods, which are used finally by consumers. E.g. Food grains, textiles, cosmetics, VCR, etc. Producer's goods are the goods used by manufacturers for producing some other goods. E.g. Machinery, tools, equipments, etc.
Expansion of trade and commerce depends on industrial growth. It represents the supply side of market.

There are various types of industries. These are mentioned as follows :-
1. Primary Industry
Primary industry is concerned with production of goods with the help of nature. It is a nature-oriented industry, which requires very little human effort. E.g. Agriculture, farming, forestry, fishing, horticulture, etc.
2. Genetic Industry
Genetic industries are engaged in re-production and multiplication of certain spices of plants and animals with the object of sale. The main aim is to earn profit from such sale. E.g. plant nurseries, cattle rearing, poultry, cattle breeding, etc.
3. Extractive Industry
Extractive industry is concerned with extraction or drawing out goods from the soil, air or water. Generally products of extractive industries come in raw form and they are used by manufacturing and construction industries for producing finished products. E.g. mining industry, coal mineral, oil industry, iron ore, extraction of timber and rubber from forests, etc.
4. Manufacturing Industry
Manufacturing industries are engaged in transforming raw material into finished product with the help of machines and manpower. The finished goods can be either consumer goods or producer goods. E.g. textiles, chemicals, sugar industry, paper industry, etc.
5. Construction Industry
Construction industries take up the work of construction of buildings, bridges, roads, dams, canals, etc. This industry is different from all other types of industry because in case of other industries goods can be produced at one place and sold at another place. But goods produced and sold by constructive industry are erected at one place.
6. Service Industry
In modern times service sector plays an important role in the development of the nation and therefore it is named as service industry. The main industries, which fall under this category, include hotel industry, tourism industry, entertainment industry, etc.
