ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE defined as how the activities as task allocation , coordination and supervision are directed towards the achievement of organisational arms.
An organization can be structured in many different ways , depending on its objectives. the structure will determine the modes in which it operates and performs.it allows the expressed allocation of responsibilities for different functions and processes to different entities.
TYPES OF ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:
* VERTICAL STRUCTURE- The vertical structure has the power emanating from top to down. there's a well defined chain of command. the person at the top of organization chart has the most power. the higher person is chairman, he is advisory in nature and entire head of the board. but the managing director has the power to manage the company. there are certain differences between chairman and M.D.
*HORIZONTAL STRUCTURE- this structure has less chain of command. employees across lines have similar input into how the organization is run instead of each person having defined duties, employees may work in teams, with everyone .employees may perform many different function and may report to the several supervisors rather than a single boss.
* NETWORK DESIGN- it is a newer type of organizational structure viewed as less hierarchical, more decentralized, and more flexible than other structures.in this managers coordinate and control relationships that are both internal and external. the main did advantage is lines of accountability may be less clear.
*MATRIX STRUCTURE- the matrix structure takes the characteristics of both types of organization structures. in this employees usually work under more than one boss. the advantage is employees are very skilled and the structure is more dynamic , because it allows communication across the boundaries. Disadvantage is the employees may have to report to two managers , which adds confusion .
*TASK FORCE- it means for conducting any particular event or task the whole team for that task is called as task force.
